21-Day Dog Training Program - Detailed Content
Week 1: Basic Habits
The first week is designed to build a strong bond with your dog and establish basic training habits.
Day 1: Name Recognition Training
Teach your dog to look at you when it hears its name. Say the name in morning, noon and evening sessions, and reward it when it looks.
Day 2: House Training
Establish a toilet routine. Take your dog out when it wakes up, after meals and before bed. Always take it to the same spot.
Day 3: Eye Contact and Attention
Build a bond by making eye contact with your dog. Teach the "Look at me" command.
Day 4: Hand Following (Luring)
Teach your dog to follow your hand. This technique forms the foundation of all commands.
Day 5: Bed/Crate Training
Make the safe space appealing. Associate the bed or crate with positive experiences.
Day 6: Leash Habit
Prepare for the leash and walks. If it pulls, stop; when it relaxes, continue.
Day 7: Weekly Review
Reinforce everything learned in the first week and evaluate your progress.
Week 2: Obedience Training
The second week focuses on teaching the basic obedience commands: Sit, Down, Come, Stay.
Days 8-9: SIT Command
Move the reward from your dog's nose toward its back. When it sits, say "SIT" and reward it immediately.
Day 10: DOWN Command
Starting from sit, lower the reward toward the ground. When it lies down, say "DOWN".
Day 11: COME Command
Teach your dog to come when called. ALWAYS reward it when it comes - this command saves lives.
Day 12: STAY Command
Patience and self-control. Use STAY before going through the door or giving food.
Days 13-14: Command Chains
Practice command chains such as SIT-STAY-COME. A successful chain = an extra reward.
Week 3: Advanced Level and Socialization
The final week focuses on leash training, socialization and solving problem behaviors.
Day 15: Leash Training
Walking without pulling the leash. Reward your dog when it walks beside you; if it pulls, stop.
Day 16: DROP Command
Teach your dog to drop what is in its mouth. It is a critical command for safety.
Days 17-18: Socialization
Provide positive experiences with different people and dogs. Start with calm dogs.
Day 19: Environmental Adaptation
Get your dog used to different sounds, surfaces and environments. When it is scared, create distance and reward it.
Day 20: Problem Behaviors
Controlling biting, barking and jumping. The whole family must apply the same rules.
Day 21: Graduation!
You have completed the 21-day program! Training is a journey - stay positive and keep going.
